Chicago's

Costumes Ahoy! Chicago's First Spooky Rave sets sail!

On Oct 30th skaters descended on the city in costume, and/or as their scary selves.
Equipped with candy treats, we treated pedestrians and motorists alike while demonstrating a few slick tricks of the skating kind. From the Near South West side, through the Loop and along Michigan Avenue, Tom Grosspietsch, led us on a haunting that wound its way from grisly spots in Lincoln Park on the north and the U. of I. campus on the south.

As always, rave skates take place in and on busy city streets.
Young girls please, use protection, uh, I mean wear protective gear.
(I was a young girl once too you know.)

Remember, bring water, raves are no skate in the park!

Thank you Chicago NSP for helping patrol this event.

The festivities commenced at the haunted house in the Daley Plaza.
Talk about super spooky, no not the ghosts of mayors past, it was seeing each other in the daylight.

Tom tells the tale of the "Devil Baby"

Hull House, 800 S. Halsted:
A "Devil Baby" with pointy ears, horns, scaly skin, and a tail, born to a devout Catholic mother and an atheist father, once lived at the Hull House. Its ghost now haunts the house. They say you can see an "ectoplasmic mist" in the stairwell to the 2nd floor. It even shows up on photos!

The tale of the Hanging Tower
Chicago Water Tower,
corner of Michigan & Chicago:

A man was hanged from the Water Tower. His ghost has been seen looking out the upper windows.
Red Lion Pub, 2446 N. Lincoln:
The new owner of the Red Lion Pub , John Cordwell, installed a stained-glass window in a stairwell, and a plaque for his father. Shortly after, people passing the window were overcome with dizziness and felt a strong presence. The new owner swears it is the ghost of his father, who was buried without a tombstone in England. A young retarded girl died there, and if you smell lavender her ghost is present. Other ghosts include a strong presence in the upstairs women's bathroom, a cowboy, a man who walks the stairs, a blond man, and a bearded man in a black hat.
